Frequently Asked Questions
How do I become a member of TMGC?
Contact any of the officers and members of the club listed in this website. Most members join because they have a friend who is already a member. Come in and play with us, and if you want the group and camaraderie it offers, then it is up to you to join. We do not force prospective members to join.
What are the membership fees, and what do they include?
Membership fees change from year to year, so it is best to talk to the officers or members. It usually includes a membership fee, SCGA fee and an additional $50 for mandatory expense to support the year-end awarding ceremony and Christmas party. That $50 dollar covers your free admission to the Christmas party.
Do I need previous golf experience to join?
No. however, it is advisable if you already have a golfing experience, so that during golf games, you do not slow down the pace of play. If you do not have any yet, try practicing a lot in the driving range to accelerate your golfing experience. When you are confident enough, then come and play with us.
How are tournament pairings and handicaps determined?
By random pairings by our tournament coordinator. You maybe paired with members that you do not know yet, but rest assured, we will welcome you with open arms.
Handicaps are done through the Golf Genius software. Normally when you have played a minimum of three games, a handicap is assigned to you by the software.
Are there any requirements or dress codes for tournaments?
Please show up on time. It is recommended that you show up a minimum of 30 mins early to allow for paying the golf fees, cart selection and if you so desire, to have warm ups in the driving range or in the putting green.
Dress code: Always wear a collared shirt, a golf shoe and pants. In the summer, shorts are allowed.
Can family members or guests attend TMGC events?
Yes - we encourage family members to attend picnics and Christmas parties. Normally, our events are family oriented.
Where are TMGC events typically held?
Golf tournament venues are mostly within San Diego and South Riverside Counties, because members are from Chula Vista, Menifee and somewhere in between. We also schedule play in Palm Springs, at Morongo and Las Vegas once in a while. And during the beginning of each year, we have two groups that travel to the Philippines and play the beautiful golf courses there.
Who can I contact for more information?
You can contact any of the officers and members of the club.
